All potential adopters go through the same adoption process when applying to adopt an animal from BAPS. It is not our intention to frustrate you or delay the time until you get to welcome your new family member into your home. BAPS does it’s best to ensure that all of our animals go into the perfect, forever homes with families who completely understand their needs, wants and behaviours.
Dog Adoption Process
In order to adopt a dog from BAPS, you must first fill out our Adoption Application and either drop it off at the shelter or email it in. Our Dog Adoption Coordinator will then be in contact with you as soon as possible. She will then discuss with you what you are looking for in your new family member and if you had any of our dogs specifically in mind. After discussing the adoption, a decision will then be made and your new family member will soon be home with you!
Cat Adoption Process
In order to adopt a cat from BAPS, you must first fill out our Adoption Application and either drop it off at the shelter or email it in. Our Cat Adoption Coordinator will then be in contact with you as soon as possible. You will discuss what you’re looking for in your next feline friend and whether or not the cat you picked out will be a purrfect match for you!
Small Critters Adoption Process
Sometimes BAPS receives guinea pigs, hamsters, bunnies, and some times even some small reptiles and birds. We still request an Adoption Application to be filled out and the process is similar to those above. The fees will vary, so it is best to contact the shelter with all inquiries.
Long Distance Adoption Process
If you are looking to adopt and are not in the general area, don’t fret. BAPS adopts to homes all over Canada and the United States. It is up to the new family to provide and pay for transport of the dog. Please contact the shelter for further information.
